Nagpur: A manager of a hotel located at Bajaj Nagar Square has been arrested for allegedly cheating the owner of Rs 2 lakh. The action was taken after the owner lodged a complaint with Bajaj Nagar police.
The accused, identified as Arjun Pradeep Jaiswal (31), a resident of Ujjwal Nagar, Somalwada, was appointed as manager at The Common Ground Sports Cafe and Restro by owner Ashish Sudharrao Kowale (39), a resident of Patel Nagar, Katol Road, along with his associates. The accused Arjun was responsible for overseeing various aspects, including financial transactions.
According to police, Arjun’s behaviour took an abrupt turn in 2022 as he began engaging in disputes with both the restaurant staff and the owner himself. This led to his termination from the job in October2022. However, it was later revealed that Arjun had fabricated a fake food license and Gumasta in the restaurant’s name. Using these forged documents, Arjun opened an account in IndusInd Bank, diverting funds from online food delivery orders into his account. As a result, he siphoned off Rs 2 lakh.
Ashish became aware of the deception and reported the incident to the police. A case under Sections 381, 420, 406, 468 and 471 of Indian Penal Code was registered by Bajaj Nagar police and the accused was arrested. The police have seized Rs 1.76 lakh from the accused.
