Nagpur: A 35-year-old hotelier was stabbed by the owner of a chicken outlet and his one accomplice over Rs 1 lakh pending bill in Sakkardara Police Station area on Sunday night. Cops are searching for another accused.
Police have arrested the owner of a chicken centre and two others in this connection. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Asif alias Monu (33), son of Mohammad Anees Sheikh, and Danish Imran Khan (19), both residents of Jagdish Nagar, Katol Road.

The victim, Shafiq Khan (35), son of Aziz Khan, sustained serious injuries in the attack and was rushed to Orbit Hospital, Sakkardara, where he is currently undergoing treatment. Shafiq Khan runs Albilal Hotel, an eatery located at Tajbagh. He had been procuring chicken and other raw materials on credit from Mohammad Asif’s Ayaan Chicken Centre, situated opposite Jawahar Sabhagriha, Hasanbag.
The financial dispute arose after Shafiq Khan accumulated a debt of Rs one lakh towards the procurement of chicken, an amount unpaid since the lockdown. Despite repeated requests from Mohammad Anees to settle the outstanding amount, Shafiq Khan allegedly kept delaying the payment.
Frustrated with the continued excuses, Mohammad Anees visited Shafiq Khan’s residence on Sunday night and took him to Toheet Nagar on a motorcycle around 10.50 pm. The confrontation escalated in front of a gas godown where Mohammad Asif, joined by his brother Anees alias Annu and Danish Khan, threatened Shafiq Khan with dire consequences if he failed to pay up. During the heated argument, Mohammad Asif reportedly brandished a knife and attacked Shafiq Khan causing him serious injuries.
The commotion attracted the attention of local residents prompting the accused trio to flee the scene. After the incident, a profusely bleeding Shafiq Khan was rushed to Orbit Hospital. The police, upon recording his statement, registered a case under Sections 109 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Mohammad Asif, his brother Mohammad Anees, and Danish Khan. Efforts were ongoing to locate and arrest Anees alias Annu.
Sakkardara police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Mohammad Asif alias Monu Sheikh (33), Danish Khan and Mohd Anis alias Annu. Monu and Danish have been arrested.
