The primary objective is to discourage the practice of using a single FASTag for multiple vehicles, streamlining toll collection processes.
To ensure the seamless functioning of the FASTag system, NHAI is urging users to complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process following the guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Failure to complete KYC by January 31 may lead to the deactivation of FASTags.
As part of the initiative, NHAI aims to create a more effective and convenient toll payment system for highway users, contributing to a smoother traffic flow at toll plazas and enhancing the overall travel experience for commuters.

Documents Required for FASTag KYC Update: As per RBI guidelines, users need to submit any of the following documents for FASTag KYC update:
- Passport
- Voter’s ID
- Aadhar Card
- Driving licence
- PAN card
- NREGA job card (signed by a State Government official)
Users must also include a copy of the vehicle’s registration certificate along with the KYC documents.
How to Update FASTag KYC Details Online: To update FASTag KYC online, users should follow these steps:
- Visit the IHMCL FASTag portal.
- Log in with your mobile number.
- Click on “My Profile.”
- Check KYC status and select “Customer Type” under the “KYC” tab.
- Add mandatory fields with ID and address proof documents.
How to Update FASTag KYC Details Offline: For offline updates, users can approach the FASTag issuing bank, visit the nearest branch, and complete the application form with the required updates. Relationship managers at the bank are available to assist with the KYC update.
