Hubby, in-laws booked for abetment of suicide

Nagpur News : Husband, his parents and siblings have been booked on Tuesday for allegedly abetting his wife to commit suicide.

The police said, the deceased, Sarika Sahoo (27) was found hanged to the ceiling hook in her bedroom at her Savitribai fule Nagar residence in Ajni police station on Tuesday afternoon.

Though no suicide note was found by the police, Sarika’s parents alleged that Sarika was tortured and harassed by her in-laws and husband for dowry that forced her to end her life.

The allegations also led to tension at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where Sarika’s body was taken for post-mortem, as Sarika’s parents and her in-laws had a heated argument to have the possession of the body.

According to the complaint filed by Sarika’s maternal relative, Manoj Sahoo, Sarika was tortured to bring money for her sister-in-law’s wedding. She was also forced to sell her gold valuables by her mother-in-law Amravati Sahoo. Brijesh Sahoo (husband) , 30, his siblings 19-year-old Laxmi and Akhilesh (21) are not yet arrested.
