Nagpur: Husband, in-laws have been booked on the charges of abetting suicide by a woman.
On November 13, Rashmi Pradeep Gotmare, resident of Plot No. 8, Kadu Nagar in Hudkeshwar area, had ended her life by hanging to a ceiling fan in her house with the help of ‘odhni.’ At that time, cops had initially registered a case accidental death but had launched a thorough investigation.
The sustained interrogation and investigation revealed that Rashmi’s brother-in-law Sunil Gunwantrao Gotmare and sister-in-law Archana Ashok Nagpure (21) of Katol used to beat Rashmi with sticks over share in the house.
Similarly, her husband Pradeep Gunwantrao Gotmare had illicit relations with another woman. When Rashmi came to know about Pradeep’s extramarital affairs, she pleaded with Pradeep to stay away from the woman. Rashmi’s request enraged Pradeep and he thrashed her severely on several occasions.
Moreover, the accused Pradeep asked Rashmi to bring Rs 50,000 from her mother for repaying loans taken from other people during construction of house. Rashmi’s mental and physical torture for bringing Rs 50,000 continued unabatedly. Fed up with the frequent harassment, Rashmi took the extreme step on November 13 to end her life.
With the revelation, Hudkeshwar PSI Muley booked Rashmi’s husband Pradeep Gotmare, brother-in-law Sunil Gotmare, sister-in-law Archana Nagpure under Sections 306, 34 of IPC and probing the case further.
