Nagpur: The Crime Branch Unit 1 of Nagpur Police has arrested three accused in connection with the murder of an auto-rickshaw driver on Wadgaon Road near Samruddhi Highway reported last Thursday. The murder was the result of the alleged illicit relationship.
The 50-year-old auto-rickshaw driver, Dinesh Haridas Nagrale from Wadgaon Gujar, Hingna, was bludgeoned to death with bamboo sticks by a miffed neighbour, who suspected he was having an illicit relationship with his sister-in-law at Wadgaon Gujar village on June 13. The city police have nabbed three including neighbour Prabhakar alias Balu Narayan Shivkar (34) from Takalghat for their role in the murder.
The other two arrested accused are Amol Barsu Barse (27) from Satgaon, Butibori, and Mangesh Vishnu Uike (30) from Sawargaon, Yavatmal.
It’s learnt Shivarkar had roped in his friend Amol Barse and Mangesh Uikey to teach Nagrale a lesson. After a failed attempt around a fortnight ago, the three had managed to finally ambush Nagrale on June 13 and bumped him off.
The incident was reported by Dinesh’s wife, Alka (41). Dinesh earned a living by driving a passenger auto from Tembhari village on Butibori Road. After work, he would park his vehicle at his brother’s place in Tembri and return home by motorcycle. On the night of the incident, the accused intercepted Dinesh on Wadgaon Road, inflicted injuries on his chest with a sharp-edged weapon, and then killed him by crushing him with wood and stones before fleeing the scene.
Initially, police suspected a robbery motive, but cash was found in Dinesh’s pocket which ruled out the theft angle. The Crime Branch Unit 1 and Cyber Cell, analysed mobile phone data from the area during the time of the crime which led to the arrest of the culprits. The three accused were arrested and handed over to Hingna Police.
