Nagpur: Probably for the first time, twelve aircraft are parked on the taxiway of Nagpur’s MIHAN-SEZ (Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur-Special Economic Zone) due to engine issues. The grounded planes, belonging to IndiGo Airlines and Go Air, are awaiting their turn for engine repairs by the original manufacturer.
The aircraft have been grounded since March when their engines developed problems. Indamer Aviation, located in Nagpur, is providing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services to these aircraft while they are parked. Over 100 aircraft from various airlines are grounded and distributed across different locations.
Due to insufficient space at Nagpur Airport, the aircraft are strategically parked on the taxiway at MIHAN-SEZ. This arrangement ensures there is no obstruction to the movement of other aircraft and airport operations.
The grounding of such a significant number of aircraft has highlighted the importance of efficient MRO services and sufficient airport infrastructure to handle unexpected situations. The ongoing technical support by Indamer Aviation plays a crucial role in maintaining the operational readiness of the grounded planes.
The situation at Nagpur’s MIHAN-SEZ is a critical reminder of the challenges faced by the aviation industry in dealing with technical issues and space management. The collaborative efforts between airlines, MRO service providers, and airport authorities are essential to address these challenges and ensure the swift return of grounded aircraft to service.
