In a Sensational Incident Man shoots elderly woman for refusing her daughter to marry him

20141018_100355Nagpur: Love is blind. The saying has been proved true many a time in the past. And one such case of a one-sided lover has proved the saying true once again. A 32-year-old man has been booked by Imambada police, who in a fit rage, has shot an elderly woman early Saturday morning. Police said, the man has shot the woman after she refused to get her daughter married to him.

The accused has been identified as Prabhakar Pandit (32), a resident of Pardi. The injured woman was admitted to Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Police said, Prabhakar is tiles trader by profession. He was friends with Narendra Patil who also dealt in the same business. Narendra’s aunt Geeta Sukhdev Dongre (50) was constructing her house. On the reference of Narendra, Prabhakar got the contract of tiles at Geeta’s new house. Geeta’s daughter Vasudha (name changed), aged 20, used to serve tea and snacks to all the workers in the house. Prabhakar fell in love with Vasudha, who is very cheerful by nature. However, Vasudha did not respond to Prabhakar’s feelings. Prabhakar proposed her two-three times but she always refused him. Tensed over the continuous refusals from Vasudha, Prabhakar decided to speak to her parents. On Saturday, he reached her house at around 8.45 am and proposed marriage with Vasudha. However, Vasudha’s mother Geeta out rightly refused for the proposal. This aggravated Prabhakar and he started a quarrel with Geeta. As Geeta was not listening to his pleas, Prabhakar suddenly took out a pistol which he was carrying and shot Geeta.

Sound of the gun shot alerted the nearby residents and the neighbours rushed to help. Meanwhile, Prabhakar, who feared public wrath, ran away from the scene. Geeta was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. Vasudha informed police control room and the cops reached the hospital. Meanwhile, doctors said that Geeta was in a critical condition as the bullet was struck near her collarbone.

PI Anand Nerlekar has registered from Imambada police has registered an offence under relevant sections of the IPC. ACP (Crime Branch) Raut, Joint Commissioner of Police Anoop Kumar Singh, DCPP (Zone IV) Ishu sindhu also reached the spot. Cops have deployed police teams to nab the accused.
