In Jail, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Kept Murmering ‘God, What’s my Fault’: Released Inmate

The day Dera Sacha Sauda’s Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was lodged in jail, he kept murmuring ‘God, what is my fault?’ all through the night and didn’t eat anything, revealed a former inmate Swadesh Kirad who is out on bail, a news agency reported. Kirad also confirmed that Ram Rahim wasn’t given any VIP treatment but was treated like just another prisoner in Sonaria jail, Rohtak.

Speaking about the situation inside the jail, Kirad said that the prisoners were angry due to the violence that was caused by the Dera followers after Ram Rahim was convicted on August 26 by a special CBI court in Panchkula. “Had he not been kept separately, they would’ve attacked him,” said Swadesh Kirad, reported a news agency.

Hang me, I don’t want to live anymore
Kirad also revealed that on Monday 28, after the verdict was pronounced, Ram Rahim kneeled down and said, “Hang me, I don’t want to live anymore,” adding, “The five days I was there in the jail, he didn’t eat anything. Just had milk, tea, biscuits.”

Earlier it was reported that the self-styled godman didn’t eat anything, drank some water and took milk on Tuesday morning. He didn’t talk with anyone and was seen roaming in his cell.

Rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim was sentenced to 20 years in jail by a special CBI court on August 28. Judge Jagdeep Singh pronounced two sentences of 10 years rigorous imprisonment in two cases. According to the reports, Ram Rahim the sentences were run consecutively. The CBI court also fined him Rs 15 lakh of which Rs 14 lakh will go to two victims.

On August 28, as he was being awarded the punishment, reports say, the self-styled godman broke down, appealing the judge to be lenient towards him. “Mujhe maaf kar do (please forgive me),” he was quoted as saying in the courtroom by news channels.

Earlier in the day, a lookout notice was issued against Ram Rahim’s adopted daughter Honeypreet Insan after a case of sedition was filed against her. Honeypreet has also been accused of planning Ram Rahim’s escape from Panchkula court.
