March 2 was a memorable day for the people of Nagpur. The newly constructed road from Rahate Colony Chowk to Ajni and the intersection where this road ends were named as Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Holkar Chowk and Marg. In this program organized by Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Mayor Shri. Dr. Dayashankar Ji Tiwari was present as the chief guest while the founder president of Dhangar Samaj Sangharsh Samiti Maharashtra state, MP and Padmashri Dr. Vikas Mahatme was guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, the Hon’ble Mayor said that by naming the road and square in the name of a great person like Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar creates a place of inspiration that provides energy to do good deeds.

Founder President of Dhangar Samaj Sangharsh Samiti Maharashtra State, MP and Padma Shri Dr. Vikas Mahatma became emotional on this occasion as he had taken the initiative in making this happen. He has also planned to give Rs 25 lakh from his MP fund for beautification of this place.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, “Ahilya Devi was an efficient and ideal administrator. She would say, ” It is my duty to keep my people happy and I am responsible for every act of mine.” Her ideals stand relevant even today and need to be used as guidelines by current rulers. ”
