Inauguration of Statistics Society for the Academic session 2022-23

An inaugural ceremony of Statistics society for the academic session 2022-23 was held in the Department of Statistics, Institute of Science Nagpur on 27th sept 2022. Mrs. Nanda Sharad Jichkar former Mayor Nagpur City was the chief guest on this occasion .

Mrs Nanda Jichkar spoke on ‘Data for Sustainable development’ .She presented her thoughts and made students aware of the seventeen sustainable development goals set by United Nations which are to be accomplished by 2030 and efforts of NMC to enforce the goals and overall India’s efforts to a sustainable future.

She further touched the topic of gender equality, out of box thinking and suggested the students to focus themselves on acquiring knowledge rather than just focusing on the academic scores. She guided the students to adopt sustainable practices and take initiatives with their innovative ideas in their life and wished them good luck for their future endeavors.

Dr Abhay Khamborkar Prof –in –charge of the society gave the introductory remarks .

Dr Sandhya Dhabe ,Prof and Head ,Dept of Statistics thanked the Director of the Institute Dr Mrs Anjali Rahatgaonkar and Mrs Nanda Jichkar for accepting the invitation and their guidance .

The toppers and achievers were felicitated for their acheivments on this occasion.Late Sunderabai Hege memorial prize for the session 2020-21 was given to Ms Shraddha Awatade for Scoring highest marks in Statistics .Prof V P Godambe and Hege award for the academic session 2019-20 was given to Ms Sayali Mahulkar and Mr Ashwin Deotare for the academic session 2020-21 for being the M.Sc.toppers of the respective years.

Appreciation certificates were presented to Mr Saurabh Jaiswal and Ms Anushri Ghatole for completing internship for PG students 2021-22 organized by Training Unit ,Ministry of Statistics and Program implementation ,Government of India.

Appreciation certificate was also presented to Ms Pranjali Sonone for her valuable contribution in carrying out the Statistical Analysis of staff and Students of VSPM dental college and Research centre ,digdoh hills ,Nagpur as a part of MoU signed between the two institutions.

The program concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Ms Renuka Khapare ,Joint secretary of the society .
