Nagpur: The dates for Winter Session of Maharashtra Legislature to be held in Nagpur have been announced. It will be held from December 11 to 22. And this has made the NMC bosses a worried lot. The Municipal Commissioner Ashwin Mudgal, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Patdikar and Transport Committee Chairman Bunty Kukde are squirming in their chairs as their plan to have NMC-run Aapli Bus its own stand before the start of Winter Session has gone haywire.
The NMC is running the Aapli Bus service in city but it has not fount a centrally located place for its own bus stand. Currently, Aapli Bus is running its buses from Sitabuldi-based Morbhavan stand of MSRTC. On the other hand, work on the DP Road being constructed adjoininmg Morbhavan Bus Stand is going on at snail’s pace. The NMC bosses had planned to complete the DP Road well before the commencement of Winter Session but the shabby affairs by concerned authorities are proving to be a hurdle.

The work on development of road behind Morbhavan bus stand, which would connect Amravati Road to North Ambazari Road is going on at snail’s pace. The road would have facilitated speedy construction of NMC’s bus stand. But the road remains incomplete even after months.
Notably at the initiative of State Government, acres of land behind Morbhavan Bus Stand was made available to NMC for Aapli Bus Stand. However, the lethargic babus of the civic body ensured that the construction of bus stand remained on papers only. A round of the proposed site revealed that the land has been engulfed by wild bushes. The land is now being used for open defecation. If the NMC bosses wished to complete the work within the next 10 days, then the work will have to be carried out on war footing. Then only the NMC-run Aapli Bus will have its own bus stand before the Winter Session commences. But it seems herculean task not to be accomplished by the irresponsible officials.
