G H Raisoni College of Engineering (GHRCE) in Nagpur proudly hosted India’s Largest Speech Marathon, ‘Speakathon,’ on January 20, 2024, making a potential entry into the Limca Book of Records. With an impressive participation of over 1500 students, the event unfolded from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm, where participants engaged in continuous speech on the theme ‘Digital DuniyaAur Hum’—exploring various aspects of the digital world.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Sindhu Panikar and Dr. Manish Nair from the Humanities Department at GHRCE, and with the oversight of committee members including Deputy Director & Dean R&D Dr. Santosh Jaju, Deputy Director & Dean Academics Dr. PramodWalke, Dean Innovation Dr. Dinesh Padole, Dean SAC Dr. K KJajulwar, and Dean IQAC Dr. Sonali Joshi, the event saw dedicated efforts from a team of 100 students, 30 NSS volunteers, 50 SRC members, and faculty staff members who worked relentlessly for the past seven days.The theme focused on 15 sub-themes related to the digital world, with each student delivering a non-stop speech lasting 3 to 5 minutes.
The initiative aimed to create awareness about the advantages and disadvantages of the digital era among the younger generation. Government gazette officials from Govt. of Maharashtra witnessed &evaluated the eventof Limca Book of Records, adding credibility to the achievement.Aspecial acknowledgment is given by organizing team to Shri Sunilji Raisoni, Chairman RGI, for his unwavering support.
The successful execution of the event is attributed under the leadership Dr. Sachin Untawale, Director GHRCE. The participants’ commitment to using digital media with caution, as expressed during the feedback session, highlights the educational impact of the event.This remarkable feat not only sets a potential record but also significantly contributes to enhancing awareness and education about the digital world among the youth.
