Nagpur: Criminals wreaked havoc at Agent Jack’s Pub in VR Mall, Medical Chowk, on Sunday night, attacking an engineer couple and blowing cigarette smoke at the wife. The incident has caused alarm, prompting police to consider stricter measures due to the frequency of criminal activities at the pub.
According to sources, the engineer and his wife visited Agent Jack’s Pub on Sunday night. Around 12:30 AM, they were standing in the pub’s smoking zone when a group of criminals nearby started smoking. One of the criminals tried to blow smoke rings and directed the smoke towards the engineer’s wife. The engineer confronted the offender, leading to a heated argument. Enraged, the criminal and his accomplices began to assault the engineer. When his wife tried to intervene, the criminals also attacked and harassed her.
The pub was crowded at the time, causing panic among the patrons. The Imamwada police arrived at the scene, but the criminals fled upon sensing their approach. The injured couple was taken to the police station, but they declined to file a complaint.
This incident has once again highlighted the issue of hooliganism in city pubs. Six months ago, BJP leader Munna Yadav’s son and his associates were attacked at Agent Jack’s Pub. In that incident, Anand Shah, a resident of Badkas Chowk, narrowly escaped a fatal assault following a dispute over harassment of a woman. VR Mall houses two pubs known for frequent criminal activities.
Following such incidents, the police often temporarily close the pubs, but normalcy returns shortly after reopening. The Imamwada police have taken this recent incident seriously and plan to file a suo moto case against the pub and the criminals involved, with preventive measures to follow.
