Nagpur: The Pune Metro Project will be unique one in the country. It will be different. Many of Pune Metro stations will have attractive ‘Puneri Pagadi’ look. ‘Puneri Pagadi’ is considered a symbol of pride and honour in the city of Pune. Pagadi was worn by numerous famous personalities including social reformer Lokmanya Tilak.
Maharashtra Metro Railway Corporation (MahaMetro) has released the images of the proposed Metro stations. According to the images released, two Metro stations at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan would in the design of ‘Puneri Pagadi’ reflecting Pune’s historic and cultural legacy through structure of Metro stations. Similarly, Metro stations on Reach 1, Dapodi and PCMC Station will take the shape of attractive ‘Puneri Pagadi.’
The Maha-Metro is erecting the metro corridor between the Pimpri-Chinchwad and Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi corridors. Work of both the Metro corridors has already begun. Pune is city of culture and history. The ‘Puneri Pagadi’ is an epitome of expressing respect and is a type of turban that symbolises pride and honour.
