Nagpur: District administration has again revised the final voting percentage of Nagpur Parliamentary constituency, which now stands at 54.30 per cent. As for the other constituency of the district, Ramtek, there is no change as it remains at 61 percent. Both the constituencies went to poll in the first phase of Lok Sabha general elections on April 19.
After closure of the voting, the approximate voting percent of Nagpur was put at 51.20% and that of Ramtek was 52.38%. But the next day, post recalculation of voting figures of all the booths, on April 20, Nagpur’s voting percentage increased to 54.11% and that of Ramtek zoomed to 61 per cent.
Now on Sunday, the District Collector and Returning Officer again notified the new final voting figure for Nagpur which is now 54.30 percent. Such revisions do take place as voting continues beyond the official time of 6 pm, as voters turn-up quite late to exercise their franchise.
This happens mostly due to heat as elections normally take place in summer and voters tend to avoid afternoon time. So, the polling parties’ closing time gets delayed even as the district administration compiles the voting percentage that gets revised from time to time.
