Nagpur: The shows of Asia’s biggest drama ‘Jaanata Raja’ depicting the exciting events from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj are being organised in Nagpur from January 13 to January 15 at Yeshwant Stadium in the city.
Cultural Affairs Department of Maharashtra Government, the district and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) administration are jointly organising the shows of the hugely popular mega-drama.
Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur district, had suggested the district administration to host the first shows of the mega-drama in a series of shows across the State. The shows are being organised across Maharashtra to mark the 350th year of coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
A review meeting was held regarding the shows of the mega drama in Chhatrapati Sabhagruha in Collectorate here recently. Praveen Datke, MLC; Dr Vipin Itankar, District Collector; officers of Cultural Affairs Department as well as the key officials of NMC and Collector’s Office attended the meeting.
Written and directed by historian late ‘Shivshahir’ ‘Padma Vibhushan’ Babasaheb Purandare, the shows of the grand drama will be staged on a revolving stage at Yeshwant Stadium where preparations are in full swing. More than 30,000 spectators are expected to witness the mega drama shows. Though the entry will be free, there will be passes for the shows.
The show will start from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm at every day from January 13 to January 15. More than 200 artists will depict vividly the events from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The show will feature camels and horses too.
