Superintendent of Police (Prisons) Vaibhav Kamble suspended;
Suspension announced in Vidhan Sabha

Three prisoners are said to be booked under Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). Two others are said to be the offenders of Section 392 (Mugging) of Indian Penal Code.
The escaped prisoners are identified as follows:
- 1. Bisen Singh Ramulal Uikey aged 35 years. (MCOCA Offender)
- 2. Satyendar @ Rahul Rajbahadur Gupta aged 25 years resident of Kamptee (MCOCA offender)
- 3. Mohammed Shoaib @ Shibbu aged 24 years resident of Mankapur (MCOCA offender)
- 4. Prem @ Nepali Salikram Khatri aged 24 years (Many cases of looting, mugging etc)
- Akash @ Golu Rajju Singh Thakur aged 23 years (Many cases of looting, mugging etc)
Bisen Singh, Satyendra Gupta and Mohammed Shoaib are said to belong to the dreaded gangster Raja Ghous of Tajbagh. All the three are said to be partners in crime with Raja Ghous and are believed to have committed many crimes together. Satyendra Gupta had fired bullets on one person at Untkhana square and later at Police officials in Nandanwan area. Raja Ghous was also said to be part of this team which fired at the cops.

Recently the dreaded gangster Arun Gawli was shifted to Nagpur Central Prison. To add to this the main accused in German Bakery Bomb blast case Himayat Baig was also shifted to Nagpur Central Prison. A Naxalite is also said to be lodged in the Anda Cell of jail. Both of these dreaded accused are said to be kept in Anda Cell (Cellular Jail). Since this Anda Cell is monitored round the clock by prison officials and has good security arrangements, these offenders are watched continuously.

With the escape of the five prisoners, the city police swung into action. Many senior police officials including Commissioner of Police K K Pathak, Additional Commissioner of Police Shrikant Tarawade, Joint Commissioner of Police Anup Kumar, Nagpur South Region Additional Commissioner of Police Deepak Pande, Deputy Inspector General Shashikant Shinde, DCP (Zone IV) Ishu Sindhu, ACP (Crime Branch) Nilesh Raut, PI Shirimkar, the entire staff of crime branch, detective branch officials have zeroed in the Central Prisons. A high level meeting was held inside the jail premises and the city police officials have swung into action to nab the absconding prisoners.
