The Auspicious occasion of Janamashtami, the day on which notorious Lord Krishna’s Birth took place is about to arrive. Amongst Indians, this festival is considered to be the one that commemorates the earthly appearance of Krishna, who is described in India’s sacred writings as God Himself. To devotees, it is Christmas and New Year’s in one, a day of deep spiritual renewal and celebration that effectively finishes an old year and begins a fresh one.
As a part of festivity, various delicacies are also prepared. Shrikhand being one of them, it is considered to be amongst the favorite food items for Lord Krishna. So here’s the address cum recipe to enjoy this delicious ride…
Ingredients:
1 (18 ounce) container Plain Yogurt
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tsp Rose Water (optional)
1/2 tsp Ground Cardamom
Dash of Ground Nutmeg
Few threads of Saffron
4 tsp finely chopped Green Pistachios
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients of Shrikhand, except pistachios.
After mixing the ingredients, put them in a bowl and cover it with a lid. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours.
After waiting for two hours, take the bowl off the refrigerator.
By this time, the mixture would have reached the consistency of a dessert.
Now, you may stir and spoon the Shrikhand (Sweet Golden Yogurt) into dessert dishes.
