Nagpur: A 24 year old youth has allegedly raped a 16 year old girl, on several occasions, including once at a‘rented’ room of a private hospital at Medical Square, between March 2018 and August this year.
After receiving complaint from the girl, Kalamna police have arrested the accused, identified as Manoj Asawle, 24, for kidnapping and rape under sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police sources said that the survivor, a Std X student, lives in Kalamna while Manoj is a resident of Wandevi Nagar. In 2018, every time the survivor went to school Manoj allegedly stalked her. Once he dropped a chit mentioning his mobile number in the basket of survivor’s cycle. Survivor asked Manoj to stop following her but he forced her to meet. The duo later started chatting. Once Manoj took the survivor for a ride and allegedly clicked her intimate photos.
He also threatened to share her pictures on social media. The accused later took the survivor to a private hospital at Medical Square and sexually exploited her in a room taken on rent, said cops citing the complaint. The accused continued to threaten and exploit the girl.
Finally, the survivor shared her ordeal with her brother who confronted Manoj. He thrashed the brother but the incident made the survivor’s family aware of the girl’s plight. Soon, the family filed a complaint at Kalamna police station. Cops immediately arrested the accused and produced him before court on Thursday.
He has been remanded to police custody till August 25.Cops are conducting medical check up of the girl and also verifying the location of the alleged rented hospital room.
