Job-seeking woman duped of Rs 6 lakh

Nagpur: A 47-year old con man cheated a woman to the tune of Rs 6 lakh by promising her a teacher’s job in a reputed school. The accused has been booked.

The victim woman, Madhavi Nandan Chaudhary (34), resident of Plot No. 57, Dhobe Layout in Nandanvan area, in her complaint told police that the accused Mohandas Sukhdeo Hazare (47) of Dighori approached her between 13.2.2014 and 17.10.2015. Hazare told her that a post of teacher is vacant in St Joseph High School situated near Kasturchand Park. The accused Hazare reportedly promised Madhavi to get her appointed in the school as teacher.

In return, Hazare demanded Rs 6 lakh from Madhavi. With this “deal,” the accused Mohandas Hazare directly went to the house of Madhavi’s mother who is staying his tenant in Ramkrishna Nagar, Dighori. Mohandas took cash of Rs 6 lakh from Madhavi’s mother with the promise that Madhavi will be appointed as teacher in St Joseph School. However, Madhavi neither got appointment in the school nor her money returned by the accused. The cheated Madhavi approached Nandanvan police and registered a case against Mohandas Hazare.

Acting on her complaint, API S N Kamble booked the accused Mohandas Hazare under Section 420 of IPC and investigating the matter thoroughly.
