Kalmeshwar doctor tries to book flight on Google, ends up losing Rs 1 lakh; cops act fast and return money

Nagpur: In a significant action against rising online frauds, the Cyber Police Station of Nagpur Rural Police have successfully returned Rs 1.04 lakh of a Kalmneshwar based doctor who had lost money while booking online flight on Google here, on May 17.

According to police sources, Dr Ashish Pandey tried to book Nagpur-Delhi and Delhi-Nagpur flights on May 17. During his flight search on Google, Dr Pandey came across a flight booking page and filled up the necessary details on the given form. However, suddenly Dr Pandey received a text message on phone that Rs 1,04,785 has been debited from his account. Sensing that someone had defrauded him, Dr Pandey swiftly approached Kalmeshwar Police Station.

On May 17, Kalmeshwar Police in association with Cyber Police Station of Nagpur Rural Police were conducting a Cyber Awareness Programme. Acting on his complaint, Cyber Police acted timely and succeeded in getting back the amount withdrawn from Dr Pandey’s account.

Under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Vishal Anand and Additional SP DR Sandeep Pakhale, Cyber Police team comprising PSIs Nishant Junonkar, Bharat Thite, Woman Police Constable Snehalata Dhavle, Police Naik Varsha Khantait, Sangeeta Gawande, Satish Rathod, Police Shepoi Mrunal Ruat, Vaishnavi Pawar conducted the investigation and helped the victim getting back his money.
