Kanchi Seer arrives in Nagpur

Nagpur: The 70th Shankaracharya of Kanchi Kamakoti Peeth, Vijayendra Saraswati Swami, arrived in Nagpur on Tuesday evening to a rousing welcome from the devotees. He is on a Digvijay Yatra to Varanasi.

The Seer will stay at Bhagavad Pada Sabha (BPS), Ramnagar for two days. The Kanchi Seer is on his ‘Vijay Yatra’ to Varanasi, and arrived in the city by road from Adilabad. Nagpur devotees will have the darshan of Swamiji after a gap of 20 years. A traditional ritual of the Mutt, the Maha Tripurasundari Sameda Chandramouleeshwara Pooja, will be ceremoniously performed in the city at BPS premises by Swamiji on June 21 and 22.

Kanchi Seer at KITS, Ramtek from June 22 to 25

The Kanchi Seer will visit Kavikulguru Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), Ramtek, from June 22 to 25. The Kanchi Seer is on his Vijay Yatra to Varanasi and arrives in Ramtek by road from Nagpur. Devotees in and around Ramtek will have the opportunity of Seer’s darshan from June 23 to 25. A traditional ritual of the mutt, the MahaTripurasundari Samedha Chandramouleeshwara Puja will be performed at KITS daily in the morning 7 am to 10 am followed by distribution of prasadam.

Devotees can have darshan in the morning between 11 am to 12:30 pm and in the evening between 6 to 7.30 pm. Devotees should take benefit of it, said by organiser V Srinivasa Rao, Secretary, KITS, and Dr Avinash Shrikhande, Principal, KITS.

Swamiji’s last visit to Nagpur was with his guru, the 69th Peetathipathi Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, two decades ago when the latter performed the said ritual. From Nagpur, Swamiji will proceed to Ramtek and camp there for two days. Later, he will proceed to Jabalpur and Katni on way to Varanasi for Guru Poornima, where he will also observe Chaturmasya Vrata.

The Kanchi seer has undertaken ‘Vijay Yatra’ in the past and travelled the length and breadth of India. He visited Nepal in 1998 with his guru. He became the Peetathipathi of Kanchipuram Mutt on February 28, 2018. Born in 1969 in Periyapalayam, (Thiruvallur district, Tamil Nadu) to M Krishnamurthy and Ambalalakshmi, he was named Sankara Narayanan. His father was a vedic scholar and a teacher.
