KCB recruitment scam: CBI questions ex-CEO, seizes incriminating documents

Nagpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its investigation into the Kamptee Cantonment Board (KCB) recruitment scam by questioning the ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abhijeet in connection with the case. The CBI officials also seized incriminating documents related to the scam from his house.

According to reports, Abhijeet was questioned for more than six hours to ascertain his connection with other accused persons. The investigators are trying to connect the dots of his name, which appeared in the diary that was recovered from a house of one of the accused, and papers related to the scam were recovered from his house. The diary has entries of Rs 1.50 crore received from the candidates who were appointed in the KCB.

Abhijeet is currently posted at Delhi. He was questioned at the CBI’s Nagpur office. Along with the ex-CEO, many other officials of the KCB are on the CBI radar. They are likely to be questioned soon. The scam came to light when the CBI registered a case against some of the KCB officials for allegedly accepting bribes to appoint candidates in various posts.

The CBI has also arrested a few people in connection with the scam and recovered some incriminating documents. The CBI has been conducting raids and searches at houses of persons related to KCB to unravel the entire conspiracy. The officials are also scrutinising the financial transactions of the accused to establish the money trail.

Meanwhile, the arrested accused Deep Ramesh Saktel, Sanitation Worker of KCB; Chandrashekhar Kuwarlal Chidhalore, candidate selected for the post of Mali and the Nursery teacher were produced before the court by CBI, on Monday. The court sent them to Magisterial Custody. Accused Chandrashekhar Krishnaji Lanjewar alias Chandu, Ex-Vice-President of KCB, will be produced before the on Tuesday.
