Nagpur: A delegation of KfW – the German government-owned development bank financing Nagpur Metro project – visited Maha Metro. The 7-member delegation including senior office bearers of the Bank visited various project sites and also held meeting with MD Maha Metro Dr. Brijesh Dixit and senior officials. The delegation included Dr. Joachim Nagel, member of executive board of KfW Bankengruppe, Christiane Laibach, Head of DEG, Roland Siller, Member of Management Committee for Asia and Europe, KfW Development Bank, Dr. Felix Povel, Personal Assistant to Member of Executive Board, Dr. Christoph Kessler, Director, KfW Development Bank, India, Kunal Makkar, Director, KEG India and Anirban Kundu, Deputy Director, KfW India.
The team was here to understand the environmental and social aspects of Maha Metro Nagpur project, visited Airport South and Khapri Metro Stations. The team boarded Metro Train at Airport South Station and travelled to Khapri Metro Station. The KfW team also viewed vertical garden near Nagpur Airport, which has been proving to be a major attraction. The team also visited project sites including the one at Institution of Engineers on South Ambazari Road. Later a meeting was held at Udyog Bhavan office of Maha Metro in which presentation on the environmental and social issues was made. An independent agency – M/s. ERM – appointed as per requirement of funding agency accompanied the KFW delegation. The ERM team appraised KfW about the environment, social and safety management practices implemented by Maha Metro.
A presentation on 5D BIM was made to the KfW team. The delegation expressed its satisfaction with the progress of works and other initiatives adopted by Maha Metro. The meeting was attended by Director (F) S. Sivamathan, Executive Director (Strategic Planning) S. Ramnath, Chief Project Manager (Priority Section) H. P. Tripathi, and other Maha Metro officials.
