Nagpur: Internationally acclaimed sprinter of the country Hima Das asked budding sportspersons of Nagpur to inculcate discipline if they want to achieve success. Hima Das was speaking during the flag distribution and date announcement function of the sixth edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav on Sunday.
The KKM-6 will be held from January 12 to 28 in Nagpur. Hima Das said without sacrifice success is not achieved. “I started running in 2017 and within a year became world U-20 champion. This success looks easy to some but I had sacrificed a lot where I had to stay away from my parents, my family, had to sacrifice my favourite food. I dedicated myself to athletics. I come from a very humble background and hail from a small village. If I can achieve success why can’t you? Sports helped me to find new friends and all my success gave me some compliments like ‘Dhing Express of India’ and ‘Golden Girl of Assam’,” said Hima Das.
“KKM that Nitin Gadkari started in 2018 will always be memorable for me as in the same year I became world champion. Wherever I will go, I will surely tell everyone about this grassroots sports festival that Gadkari started to inspire young players,” she acknowledged.
