Nagpur: Hosts Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM-A) girls and Phoenix Academy boys won the inter-club sub-junior basketball championship of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav which concluded at the Shankar Nagar court the other day.
In a lop-sided girls final, DKM outplayed Hanuman Nagar Krida Mandal (HKM) by as many as 26 points (59-33) with player of the tournament Sara Gulalkari (18) and impact player Netra Damke (15) doing the bulk of scoring. In the boys title clash, Phoenix Academy from Durga Nagar outclassed Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) by 14 points (47-33).
For the winners, Divyansh Suryawanshi scored a game-high 29 points.For his consistent performance, Divyansh was named as the best player of the tournament. Both the champion teams were awarded Rs 41,000 and glittering trophies. Later, the prizes were distributed by NDBA secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar. On the occasion, Pranay Ghate, Jagdish Panchbudhe, Vasant Shirpurkar, Ravindra Kulkarni, Piyush Ambulkar and others were present.
Hockey: Ira International meets Kids World in semis
Ira International and Kids World will lock horns in the semi-final of the Khasdar Krida Mahotsav’s hockey tournament at Vidarbha Hockey Association ground.
Kids World School defeated Gyan Vidya Mandir 3-0. Ditee Chetule (22nd), Rubnoor Sheikh (36th) and Bhargavi Chikte (38th) were the scorers for the winners. Ira International got a walkover as Dinanath High School did not turn up for their match.
In U-17 boys, Gyan Vidya Mandir beat LBH Kondhali School 5-0 Ansh Meshram (2nd), Virat (4th), Aranya (9th, 11th, 30th) were the goal getters for the winners. Madan Gopal shot Dinanath High School out 3-2 to move up in the tournament.
Kulkarni, Rane enter TT final
Jayesh Kulkarni and Vaibhav Rane will clash in the men’s singles final of the table tennis event of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav.
In the semi-final. Kulkarni defeated Lavanya Dhakate 11-3, 7-11, 1-9, 11-9, 11-8 to book a date with Rane. Rane stunned Kaustubh Udar 5-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8 in the second semi-final.
In the women’s category, Dnyaneshwari Patharkar defeated Lavanya Girnare 11-7, 11-9, 7-11,11-7 to set summit clash date with Harshali Devgade who went on to beat Venushree Sharma 9- 11, 18-16, 12-14, 11-7, 11-8.
In Girls Under-19 semis, Lavanya Girnare defeated Utsav Deshmukh 11-8, 13-11, 11-7 and Vidhi Kumar got the better of Sakshi Arora 11-8, 6-11, 11-3, 8- 11, 11-3.
