Nagpur: In a freak but fatal road accident a 17-month boy died when he fell down from a motorcycle and was crushed under the wheels of a truck. Both the motorcycle rider and the truck driver have been booked in the offence.
The accused motorcyclist, Pravin Vijay Bawankar (20), resident of Omsai Nagar, Nagpur was riding Honda Shine mobike (MH-49/N 3818) with the victim, Snehal Sonam Shahu (17 months), seated on petrol tank. While riding on Old Kamptee Road near Omsai Nagar, an Eicher truck (MH-40/Y 7502), driven by Viru Nitin Dongre (23), resident of Umred, suddenly came in front Pravin’s motorcycle. Panicked by sudden coming of the truck in front of him, Pravin applied brakes with great force to avoid collision. This sudden action by Pravin resulted in hurling Shehal from the petrol tank. Snehal fell down on the road but came under the wheels of speeding truck. He was rushed to the Lifeline Hospital where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
Kalamna PSI Sonparate has booked both the motorcycle and truck drivers under Sections 279, 304(A), 34 of IPC and investigating the matter further.
