Nagpur: KIMS-KINGSWAY Hospitals proudly hosted its inaugural hands-on workshop on critical care echocardiography, spearheaded by the Department of Internal Medicine and Critical Care. This pioneering event, held on Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, marked a significant milestone in medical training and education.
The workshop featured a unique, simulation-based approach, emphasizing case scenarios where echocardiography is crucial for clinical decision-making in emergency and intensive care settings. Utilizing internationally recognized simulation techniques, the event aimed to ensure that healthcare professionals are proficient in the application of echocardiography during critical situations.
Structured around the RCEM 2021 Curriculum, the EDEC, and ISCCM Course Curriculum, the workshop offered participants practical training in both transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography. The primary objective was to maximize hands-on experience, guided by experts in the field.
The esteemed faculty included Dr. Harshwardhan Bora, Senior Consultant in Internal Medicine at KIMS-KINGSWAY Hospitals, who boasts 30 years of experience in Internal Medicine and 15 years in Critical Care, with a specialization in Intensive Care Echocardiography. Dr. Rajan Barokar, Senior Critical Care Physician and Head of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at KIMS-KINGSWAY Hospitals, chaired the panel discussion. Dr. Vivek Kumar, Course Director, and Echocardiography and Simulator Instructor, also contributed his extensive expertise as Professor and Head of Critical Care Medicine at MGM Medical College and Hospital, Navi Mumbai. Additional notable faculty included Dr. Suchitra Mohite, Head of Emergency Medicine at KEM Hospital, Pune, and Dr. Rajkumar Khandelwal, Non-Executive Director and Head of Radiology and Academics Department at KIMS-KINGSWAY Hospitals.
The workshop attracted internal medicine doctors, intensivists, cardiologists, and critical care experts, providing a valuable platform for enhancing skills and knowledge in critical care echocardiography through immersive learning experiences.
