Komal, Saundarya, other girls outshine boys in CBSE Class 10th exam in Nagpur Division

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday sprang a pleasant surprise when it declared the result of Class 10th Board exam. The result was announced by CBSE at 4 pm. The sudden declaration of result took the CBSE schools by surprise and also threw them into a chaos of sorts. All the school managements immediately swung into action, and as a first step towards smooth handling of result matter, summoned the teachers. The teachers then started collecting results of the students.

Komal Khushwaha, a student of Central India Public School, topped the CBSE Class 10th exam in girls’ category.  Shescored 98.4 percent.

Saundarya Janardhan of BVM bagged the third slot with 98.2 percent. The fourth rank too was grabbed jointly by BVM’s Aishwarya Dahake, Shipra Mudliar, Saborni Kar and Janhavi Walde of Central India Public School with identical 97.8 percent.

Rishika Dutta and Prachi Shrivastav with 97.6 percent stood joint fourth in the merit. Both too are students of BVM.  Other students of BVM who achieved excellence in the CBSE Class 10th exam include Surabhi Shahlot (97.2 percent), Anjali Ghodvaidya (97.2 percent) and Amandeep Singh Saini (96.8 percent).

Bhavan’s two branches and Center Point, Modern, NEERI Modern, South Point School, Sandipani scored 100 percent result.

When Nagpur Today contacted Saundarya, who happened to be in Kashmir, for her comments on the outstanding feat, she said, “I am totally at my wit’s end and a surprised lot, too. I never expected the third rank. But now it is reality, I want to pursue my future career to become a doctor of repute,” said a proud Saundarya with broad smile. Her father, S Janardhan, who works as Senior Manager in WCL, said that he is very happy to learn his daughter stood first in the list. Similarly, mother Sujata, an Associate Professor in SFS College, said, “I first could not believe myself that Saundarya achieved the brilliance. What more a mother would want.”

The Class X exams, conducted in the month of March in 300 schools and 78 centres, had a total number of 10,29,874 students appearing for the exams out of which boys are 7,93,940 and the total number of girls are 5,35,030.

The students can check their results on the official website of CBSE. The candidates can log on to http://cbseresults.nic.in/ in order to avail CBSE Board 10th Class Exam Result. CBSE has also facilitated results via SMS. The Board has sought assistance from National Informatics Center (NIC) Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies, in case of any technical glitches due to the heavy traffic expected on the result announcement day.

Students are requested to collect their original certificates from the respective schools post declaration of CBSE Class 10 exam results 2014.
