Nagpur: Kunal Raut, the Youth Congress president, faced heavy criticism for defacing posters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Nagpur police have arrested Kunal.
On Saturday, Kunal and his supporters arrived at the district council, where they defaced the posters of PM Modi, sparking political tensions in the district.
The Bharatiya Janata Party responded aggressively, and on Sunday, the Youth Wing staged a protest demanding the arrest of Kunal Raut within the council premises.
In an statement issued by Congress party which said that the arrest of Maharashtra Youth Congress President, Shri Kunal Raut, has been deemed illegal. Officials from Sadar Police Station in Nagpur, acting on instructions from DCP Archit Chandak, arrested him in connection with a protest outside Zilla Parishad, Nagpur.
Surprisingly, they issued a notice under U/s. 41-A Crpc dated 04.02.2024, calling for an investigation on 05.02.2024 at 12 p.m. However, allegedly succumbing to pressure from higher officials of the ruling BJP, the Sadar Police Station officials arrested him today, disregarding and contemptuously violating directions issued by the Honourable Supreme Court of India on this matter.
