Nagpur: Karwa Chauth is an old Indian tradition which has made a strong impression on us as a culture. Observed by married Hindu women for the longevity, prosperity and well being of their husband, this fasting day adds to the rich values of selflessness, social and moral ethics of India. The important aspect of the festival is that a dawn to dusk fast is undertaken by the ladies and finally break the fast after seeing the moon. This is unique in its way because nowhere in the world does a wife go without food and water to pray for the long life and well-being of her husband.
Manaswini Ladies circle has organised another theme party that is pre-karwa chauth by inviting all the members at The East India Company, Civil lines. It was a fun celebration where the gorgeous ladies of Manaswini Foundation danced on disco tunes to celebrate Karwa chouth. The ladies glammed up in their ethnic look with beautiful traditional attire.
Women played games like housie, the best dress lady in red colour and then sat down to discuss who has more red things, lip stick shades, picture of their husband, cosmetics, in their wallet.
Party was a big hit even for the food lovers. Organiser, Neelam Bowade kept in mind the fasting rituals and arranged gifts that are certain to be gifted to the ladies that is cosmetics (shringar ka saman). Mehendi artists were invited to create designs on their hands.
Manaswini foundation is an NGO of 150 members, their main objective is to promote girl education, health awareness, Sanitation and skill development.
