Nagpur:The MIDC police have taken legal action against Rajesh Deorao Meshram, a resident of Priyadarshini Society, Trimurti Nagar, for his involvement in a land fraud case. The complaint was lodged by Vidyanand Upasrao Masarkar (75) of Navneet Nagar, Amravati Road, a retired employee of Ordnance Factory, Ambazari.
Masarkar’s father, Upasrao, had acquired a 5.25-acre piece of land with khasra number 68 at Sangam Road, Wanadongri, which he later gifted to his son Vidyanand through a proper gift deed. The land was duly registered in Vidyanand’s name, with the 7/12 document reflecting the ownership.
On February 19, 2023, Vidyanand engaged in a land deal with Ritesh Sharma, a developer residing in Shankar Nagar. Following standard procedures, Sharma published a public notice regarding the transaction. However, trouble arose when Meshram initiated a dispute with Vidyanand after the public notice’s appearance. Meshram went on to inform Sharma that the land deal had already been finalized.
Unfazed by Meshram’s claims, Vidyanand proceeded with the sale deed process with Sharma on October 3, 2023. Subsequently, Meshram filed a petition in the civil court. Vidyanand, upon receiving the court notice, discovered that Meshram had submitted fraudulent documents with forged signatures.
Alarmed by this revelation, Vidyanand promptly filed a complaint with the MIDC Police. Handwriting expert Ulhas Athle confirmed the authenticity of the signatures on the documents to be fake. Upon verifying Vidyanand’s complaint, the police registered offenses against Rajesh Meshram under sections 465, 468, 471, and 420. The case sheds light on the importance of diligence in property transactions to prevent fraudulent activities.
