Nagpur: In order to give relief to the farmers, through the Irrigation Department, implementation of plans to increase the land under irrigation will be undertaken on priority basis claimed Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis in a programme organized by Irrigation Department in the Irrigation Colony in Wainganga Nagar on September 26, 2015.
He was addressing the officials during the 29th Annual General Meeting of Irrigation Department and felicitation programme.
During this programme, apart from Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Guests included State Energy Minister and Guardian Minister of Nagpur Chandrasekhar Bawankule, MLA Sudhakar Deshmukh and chaired by Chief Engineer Sanjay Khode.
The Government is seriously considering storing rain water in large quantities in various dams and water bodies while taking cognizance of the irregular monsoon season.
The government will ensure that the Rabbi irrigated crop for the farmers is not decreased at any cost said . He added that the State Irrigation and the Guardian Minister should hold a review meeting about the irrigation plans, proposals and implementation.
With the hard and sincere work of the Irrigation staff which includes officials, employees and office-bearers of Vidarbha Irrigation Cooperative Society as of date, Vidarbha is on the foremost position.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Society which has been helping the employees, officials and the stake-holders to resolve their financial problems and grievances.
In a symbolic manner, meritorious students were felicitated on this occasion. However, the Chief Minister was quick to point out that the programme for felicitation of Students should have been allocated more time.
He added that a pat on the back of meritorious students will work as a motivation for them to achieve greater heights.
While addressing the audience, Guardian Minister Chandrasekhar Bawankule said that if the work of the organization continues in the same tempo, there is nothing to stop them from achieving the pinnacle of success.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis felicitated meritorious student Tejesh Manikpure on this occasion. The staff and the employees have contributed one month’s salary and Rupees 51,000 towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund.
The others who were present on the occasion included Executive Engineer Gyaneshwar Mahalle, Divisional Deputy Director Praveen Wankhede, Superintending Engineer R K Dawle, Director of the Society, employees and office-bearers were present in large numbers.
