: The inauguration of a revolutionary Laparascopy Carnival of Gynaecon-2015 was done by renowned Senior Laparascopic Surgeon Dr Rakesh Sinha from Mumbai on October 24, 2015.

The Gynaecologists of the city and around 550 Doctors got to see a live relay of Operative workshop which was relayed from Omega Hospital to Hotel Radisson Blu. The Chairperson for this programme was Dr J Fidvi, Dr M Rohatgi and Dr PrateekKherde.

Nine very difficult Surgeries were performed by the following Faculty Doctors.:

  1. Dr Chaitanya Shembekar performed the first surgery in Omega Hospital owned by him.
  2. National President of Endoscopic Surgeons Association Dr RajendraSankpal performed the next surgery.
  3. Secretary of NOGS Dr Sandeep Nikhade performed the next surgery followed by
  4. President of NGOS, Nagpur Chapter Dr IndrajeetMulik performing the last surgery.

The live surgery projected to the Conference hall in Hotel RadissionBlu mesmerized the delegates. Some of the basic concepts and knowledge base which was very beneficial for the Gynaecologists and that could be taken home were:

  1. Even Cancer surgeries could be performed through Laparoscopic surgery. Big Fibroids and Tumours can be removed by Laparoscopic surgery. This surgeries also helps in Fertility Enhancing Procedures.
  2. The Doctors got a knowledge of newer equipments with 3-D vision that provides better depth perception. Robot assisted Surgeries etc.
  3. The delegates got to learn newer techniques of Vagina and Uterus creation.

While speaking to Nagpur Today, many surgeons and gynaecologists said that the procedures that they witnessed today at the conference will definitely help them in their own practice and surgeries. They also get to know the techniques to be followed in difficulties and complications.

This session was followed by the YUVA NOGS Oration by Dr RujuktaFuke who spoke eloquently on “Shifting the burden from treatment to prevention in Gynaecological Cancers: An Over-due responsibility”. The Chairperson for this session was Dr RekhaBhiwapurkar, Dr Sarita Kothari and Dr SadhanaDeshmukh.
