A Indian playback singer who has sung for Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telugu films, an established ghazal singer, and one of the pioneers of Indian fusion music is “Hariharan”.His melody is strongly appreciated by the film fraternity.

In 2004, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India and is a two time National Award winner.But hariharan is moer than to get something which came after a long time , the Madhya Pradesh government today announced to confer its prestigious `Lata Mangeshkar Samman Alankaran` to Bollywood playback singer Hariharan.
Hariharan would be the 28th recipient of the award. The singer would receive the award at a function here next month, the selection committee said.
. The Lata Mangeshkar award is given to a musician and a playback singer in the alternate year. Last year, Rajesh Roshan was named for the award.
