Nagpur: A Nagpur bound Air India flight could not take off for 6 hours from the scheduled time from Mumbai as its pilot did not reach on time, a report in a local daily said.
According to the report, the passengers had booked tickets for the flight from Mumbai, and the aircraft were stranded at Mumbai Airport for 6 hours. The flight was scheduled to take off at 7.30 pm from Mumbai for Nagpur. Passengers boarded the flight as a routine process. All the passengers remained in the aircraft for about one hour. As per the report, no crew member informed the passengers about the fact. Finally, it was announced that the pilot has not reached yet.
The flight had come to Mumbai from elsewhere because of which the flying hours of the pilot were over. The earlier team had already left. Nobody was aware as to how much time they would have to wait.
According to the report, the airliner team did not provide passengers the required food, nor provided clear and neat information. Finally the pilot arrived at around 12 in the midnight and the flight took off at 1.30. The passengers reached Nagpur at 2.30 am.
“Passengers suffered a lot. Maximum passengers were from Nagpur, some of them carried newborn babies. We first boarded the flight, then deboarded, and underwent a security check again. Some people had reached the airport at Mumbai even two hours before to board this Nagpur bound flight. Some people had to go to other destinations of Vidarbha after landing at Nagpur. They found it difficult to return to their home district. They had to wait till morning,” an anguished passenger lamented.
