Nagpur: Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) held a meeting in its premises on July 24 in response to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) sponsored LBT Abhayadaan Yojana- 2015 in order to understand and derive advantage of the scheme launched by the state government.
It was prominently attended by NVCC members and NMC office-bearers and officials, namely, Mayor Pravin Datke, Dy mayor Munna Pokulwar, commissoner Sharavan Hardikar, standing committee chairman Ramesh Shingare, Girish Deshmukh, Dayashankar Tiwari, Sunil Agrawal and assistant commissioner (LBT) Milind Meshram.
In his appeal to derive advantage of newly launched scheme, mayor Pravin Datke said, all traders and members of NVCC should take advantage of the scheme. Dwelling on NMC’s current financial position, he informed that the condition of NMC was so bad that it was difficult to meet the routine expenses without receiving regular revenue. He told the traders that earlier when there was octroi system the revenue generation was satisfactory, but since the LBT came into force the revenue generation had gone down to miserable extent. He explained that those who were not paying taxes overdue under LBT, for them the state government has introduced LBT Abhayadaan Yojana (LBT-AY) under which no penalty on tax overdue or interest thereof would be charged on LBT dues. He requested the traders to avail advantage of the scheme.
NMC commissioner Shravan Hardikar in his address said, Nagpur is the third number city in Maharashtra yet its No.1 in terms of development, but it is costly city as well. The NMC wants to provide all sorts of possible facilities to its citizens, and for this the provision of money or funds is necessary, so if all traders pay their LBT dues, the money will reach the NMC exchequer for developmental works, he clarified. He told the traders, if they pay Re 1, the NMC provides service worth Rs 2, and so, their cooperation with NMC is necessary. He called on the LBT tax-payers to contact the NMC officials in case any problem, and appealed them to pay their dues.
At the outset, NVCC president Prakash Mehadia (Agrawal) welcomed NMC mayor, deputy mayor, commissioner and other officials with floral gesture. In his welcome address, he appealed to all the traders to avail advantage of the LBT-AY scheme launched by the NMC. He also appealed to NMC officials to extend cooperation to traders in this direction without any complications.
The traders openly tabled their problems before assistant commissioner (LBT) Milind Meshram and their problems were patiently heard with ways-out.
Hon secretary Jaiprakash Parekh conducted the proceedings and also proposed the vote of thanks.
