Nagpur: People residing in Ordnance Factory, Ambajhari, are again in a tizzy after reports emerged about sighting of a leopard in the campus of Amravati Road. An advisory has been issued by the OF administration asking people to take abundant precautions and avoid straying alone in the campus area.

The note issued by Vikas Kumar Pandey, Deputy General Manager, VKP, states that since the last three to four days, the CCTV cameras have captured movement of a full grown leopard. The administration promptly alerted the Forest Department and camera traps have been affixed at strategic places. In the recent past, the leopard has even hunted a stray dog as a carcass was found in OF campus.

Similarly, the residents have been advised not to indulge in any violent act to counter the leopard as it may cause harm to them. About one-and-half-year back, there was a similar sighting of leopard in the OF area and that time the residents lived constantly under fear for nearly a month. Thereafter, the straying of a tiger up to IT Park at Parsodi, right into the city, further aggravated the fear. The area of OF borders the Ambazari Biodiversity Park where a tiger has been sighted in the past.
