Nagpur Today.
Like the days the crowd of Lotus Maha Garba Raas is increasing day-by-day. Music blasted as attendees performed the traditional high-energy Navratri dances of Garba and Raas.
The ladies were decked in traditional garba dance dress. The top is Choli which is an embroidered and colorful blouse, teamed with bottom called Chanya (also chaniya), Lahenga or Ghagra. Chaniya Cholis are decorated with beads, shells, mirrors, stars, and embroidery work, mati, etc.
Men were seen wearing kafni pyjamas with kurta – a short round kurta – abovethe knees and turban on the head with bandhini dupatta, kada (men’s bracelet), and mojiris (traditional shoes).
Apart from this, the dresses also have seen a huge change. From traditional attire, these days’ garba dancers often wear semi-Western, Bhangra dresses, skirts and also trousers. People are seen experimenting with the clothes to get a different spiced up look.
