Loud explosion heard near Porbandar Naval base

News of explosion at Porbandar naval base erroneous. The Navy has now clarified that it was a firecracker that exploded. But heavy security has been put in place outside the Porbandar Naval base after reports that of an explosion.

Earlier report said a blast was heard today at the Indian Navy base in Porbandar on the Gujarat coast this morning.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known. Police and fire tenders have rushed to the spot.

The Navy, which was already on alert following India’s surgical stries against Pakistan, has begun a search operation with the local police.

Sources said nothing incriminating has been recovered so far.

A Pakistani boat was apprehended and nine crew members detained off the coast near Porbandar earlier this week.
