Nagpur: A lovelorn youth who was arrested by Pratap Nagar Police recently turned out to be a notorious vehicle lifter. Cops have arrested his two accomplices also and recovered 10 stolen two-wheelers worth Rs 6 lakh from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Sanju Girjashankar Tiwari (18), a resident of Shatabdi Chowk, Ajni, Aniket Ravi Indurkar (20), a resident of Pathan Layout, Pratap Nagar and Pranay Rajendra Dule (23), a resident of Plot No 09, Jugalkishor Layout, Gopal Nagar, near III Bus Stop.

On April 11, accused Sanju Tiwari was arrested by Pratap Nagar police on the charges of outraging modesty of a girl by indulging in filthy words and vulgar acts. He also threatened to kill her. Sanju Tiwari earlier used to stay near the house of the girl (19) in Pratap Nagar police area. They were chatting with each other. However, a year ago, the girl refused to talk to the accused as he had uttered some indecent words. But Sanju continued stalking the girl while she was on her way to college and returning home.

Cops had registered a case under Sections 354(d), 354(d)(1), 447, 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code, read with Sections 4 + 25 of the Arms Act and 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act. Police had information that Tiwari and his accomplices were involved in vehicle thefts. During his custodial interrogation, Tiwari spilled the beans and confessed to stealing four motorcycles and six scooterettes with the assistance of Indurkar and Dule from Rana Pratap Nagar, Hudkeshwar and Dhantoli Police Station areas. Subsequently, police took Indurkar and Dule into custody and recovered the stolen vehicles from the three accused.

The arrests and recovery of stolen vehicle were made by Senior PI Mahesh Kale, PI Harishkumar Borade, PSI Danivsai Sangsurwar and constabulary staff under the supervision of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Aswati Dorje, DCP (Zone-I) Anurag Jain and ACP Ashok Bagul.
