Maha Cabinet Approves Rs 25,000 Cr Lithium Battery Plant in Nagpur

Mumbai/Nagpur: The Maharashtra Cabinet sub-committee, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has approved investment proposals totaling Rs 81,000 crore for seven mega and super mega projects across the state. These high technology-intensive projects, including those in electric vehicles (EVs), lithium batteries and cells, and semiconductor chips, are expected to generate 20,000 jobs in Marathwada, Vidarbha, and Konkan.

One of the standout projects is a massive lithium batteries manufacturing initiative by JSW Energy PSP XI in the Nagpur area, involving a total investment of Rs 25,000 crore and the creation of over 5,000 jobs. Chief Minister Shinde emphasized that Maharashtra remains a preferred destination for investors, who have shown strong confidence in these proposed investments. The projects will benefit from various incentives announced under the Maharashtra Industrial Policy.

Additional notable investments include:
– JSW Green Mobility’s electric and hybrid vehicle manufacturing at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar with Rs 27,200 crore, creating 5,200 jobs.
– Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages’ fruit pulp and juice-based product manufacturing project in Ratnagiri with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore.
– RRP Electronic Company’s Integrated Project for Manufacturing Semiconductor Chips in Taloja/Panvel and Pune, with an initial investment of Rs 12,000 crore, creating over 4,000 jobs. A further Rs 12,000 crore investment is planned for the second phase.
– Avaada Electro Company’s integrated solar PV modules and electrolyser project in Nagpur’s Additional MIDC, Butibori, and MIDC Bhokarpada, Panvel in Raigad, with Rs 13,647 crore investment and 8,000 jobs.
– Pernod Richard India’s large liquor manufacturing project at Additional Butibori MIDC, Nagpur, with an investment of Rs 1,785 crore.
