The state could witness the official announcement of elections starting from the 15th of this month. The Central Election Commission is expected to declare the schedule on Tuesday. In light of this, the ruling coalition is set to hold its final meeting on Monday. This will mark the beginning of the election season in the state. All eyes are on the government’s final decisions in this last cabinet meeting.
It is important to note that the current government’s term ends on November 26, making it crucial to hold elections and form a new government before that date. Recently, during his visit to Maharashtra, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar confirmed that elections in the state would be held on time, ensuring the formation of a new government before November 26.
In the meantime, the state government has been focused on inaugurations and foundation stone-laying ceremonies. On Sunday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis participated in various such events across the state. Shinde laid the foundation stones for projects in Mumbai, Nanded, and Nagpur, while Fadnavis inaugurated or laid the foundation for projects worth over ₹5500 crore in Tirora, Gondia district.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar was scheduled to visit Amravati, but he canceled his trip due to the passing of party leader Baba Siddiqui.
