Nagpur: Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur (MNLU) is pleased to announce the Second Edition of the MNLU-N National Commercial Mediation Competition, 2024, which is being held from February 17th-18th virtually and the advanced rounds being held from 9th- 10th March, 2024 at the University campus. Further, the competition was inaugurated on 17th February under the Patronage of Prof. Dr. Vijendra Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, MNLU Nagpur who has extended best wishes to all the participating teams. Dr. Ashish J. Dixit, Registrar, extended warm welcome to the teams. Dr. Ragini Khubalkar and faculty advisor of the ADR Society has given the welcome address and talked about importance of mediation as a tool of Alternative Dispute Resolution System. Dr. C Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Registrar declared the competition open. The other faculty Advisors, Dr. Shafi Sir; Dr. Divita Pagey; Dr. Shruti Wagela and Miss Trishla Dubey were present in the programme. This esteemed event underscores MNLU’s commitment to fostering and promoting the utilization of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms in India, with a specific focus on the complexities of Cyber, AI, IPR, and Technology Law.
Thirty-two teams representing law schools across the nation will compete in a hybrid format. The preliminary rounds will be conducted online on February 17th and 18th, followed by a three-week break before the advanced rounds, which will be held on-campus at MNLU Nagpur on March 9th and 10th.
The competition offers compelling prizes for the teams emerging victors and runners-up. The winning client-counsel pair and mediator will be awarded a trophy, a cash prize and an internship opportunity with Dentons Link Legal. Similarly, the runner-up client-counsel pair and mediator will be presented with trophies, cash prizes, and internship opportunities with Royzz & Co. Additionally, cash prizes and internships with CAMP Mediation will be awarded to the best client-counsel and best mediator in the preliminary rounds.
The event was declared open on 16th February, 2024 with a 3 hour Mediation Workshop and Training Session lead by Mr Sandeep Bhalothia, Partner- Co-founder at Node Law holding Experience in Web3, FinTech and Technology Lawyer.
The ADR Society has collaborated with esteemed partners to ensure the success of this competition, including Royzz & Co. (Associate Partner), Dentons Link Legal (Law Firm Partner), CAMP Mediation (Supporting Partner), AK Associates and Solicitors (Knowledge Partner), The International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC Hyderabad) (Effort Partner), and EBC and SCC Online (Media Partners). The competition is meticulously organized by a dedicated team of student members of the ADR Society.
This national-level competition provides a valuable platform for law students to refine their negotiation, mediation, and legal reasoning skills while gaining profound insights into the ever-evolving landscape of cyber, AI, and technology law. The MNLU-N National Commercial Mediation Competition promises to be an intellectually stimulating and enriching experience for all the participants. The students member body of ADR Society at MNLU, Nagpur is working day and night for the success of the programme.
