Nagpur: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has announced the dates for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC- Class 12) and Secondary School Certificate (SSC- Class 10) exams for 2025.
According to the schedule, HSC theory exams will start on February 11 and end on March 18, 2025. In a departure from previous years, HSC practical exams will commence in January, running from January 24 to February 10. SSC theory exams will begin on February 21 and conclude on March 17, with practical and oral exams scheduled between February 3 and 20, 2025.
The Board has given schools time till August 23 to provide feedback and raise any concerns regarding the exam dates. This marks the earliest announcement of exam dates by the Board, as the dates for the 2024 exams were released in November.
A detailed timetable for both sets of exams will be released by the Board at a later date. Anuradha Oak, Secretary of the Maharashtra State Board, stated in a notification issued on Monday, “For the first time, both exams are scheduled to start in February to ensure early results and facilitate timely admissions for the next academic year. Stakeholders have until August 23 to submit any objections to the proposed dates.”
The board officials stated the early exams will benefit HSC students in their preparation for competitive exams. For SSC students, the early exams and result declaration will expedite the First Year Junior College admissions. SSC 2024 exams were held from March 1 to 14, and the HSC 2024 exams took place from Feb 21 to March 9.
Meanwhile, the online filling of Form-17 for students taking SSC and HSC exams as private candidates in Feb-Mar 2025 begins from Tuesday, Aug 13. Form-17 will be available from Aug 13 to Sept 30. Fee for SSC students is Rs 1,100 while HSC students appearing privately will have to pay a fee of Rs 700.
