During the last hearing, the Court had requested the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court to expedite the process of finalizing the architect and design plan for the new building.

Previously, the Court emphasized the importance of the Maharashtra Government releasing the pending 9.64 acres of land before the December 2024 deadline to ensure timely commencement of construction according to the selected design plan. Chief Justice Chandrachud asked Maharashtra Advocate General Birendra Saraf to expedite the handover process in September, following the monsoon season.

Today, Saraf assured the Court that the state government would hand over the 4.39 acres in Bandra Kurla to the High Court by September 10. He also presented a color-coded plan detailing the phased handover of the remaining 30.16 acres. Copies of this plan will be provided to the Presidents of the three Bombay Bar Associations.
