Nagpur News: Major General RajendraRamraojiNimbhorkarawardedAtiVishishtSeva Medal on the occasion of Republic Day by the President of India.The award has been given for their eminent contribution to the service of Nation and its Armed forces.The award would be presented at an exclusive investiture ceremony at RashtrapatiBhawan later during the year.
Maj Gen RR Nimbhorkar hails from Wadala village in Wardha District of Maharashtra and he has done his primary schooling from village only. He is an alumni of Country’s first Sainik School, is also an alumni of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla. He was commissioned in the 15th Battalion, The Punjab Regt (Patiala) in June 1979.
The General Officer has held many prestigious command, staff and instructional assignments and has served across the complete cross-section of terrain the Indian Sub-Continent has to offer.The General Officer had the proud privilege to Command the Battalion and an Infantry Brigade along the Line of Control operating in highly active CI/CT environment.
Maj Gen Nimbhorkar during his illustrious career has tenanted several sensitive and important appointments. The ones requiring special mention being-brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, General Staff Officer-1 Military Training Directorate, Colonel Administration of an Artilery Division, Colonel Q (Operating) of A Corps in North East, Brigadier Administration of the most active Command of the Army and comes on promotion cum posting from the Strategic Forces Command. He also has been an Instructor at the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun.
The General Officer has a wealth of International experience. Apart from having served in United Nations Mission in Angola, he has got unique distinction of undergoing Nesa Executive Course Studies Executive Course from the Asia Pacific Centre for security studies, Honolulu, Hawaii (USA).
As an apt recognition to his unflinching commitment to the ‘OLIVES’ and professional excellence, he has been decorated with BAR TO SENA MEDAL and VISHISHT SEVA MEDAL apart from being conferred with the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card and C-in-C SFC Commendation Card.
