Nagpur: In a significant operation, authorities have taken action against illegal fishing activities at Totladoh Dam in the Pench Tiger Reserve. The Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) conducted the raid, seizing two boats and various fishing equipment. This operation, held over two days on July 6 and 7, resulted in the confiscation of 165 fishing nets along with the boats.
Large-scale Operation by STPF at Totladoh Dam
Totladoh Dam is part of the Meghdoot Reservoir and a critical tiger habitat within the Pench Tiger Reserve. The STPF plays a crucial role in preserving biodiversity in this area by enforcing wildlife protection laws and conserving natural resources. Their continuous vigilance aims to curb illegal activities and protect the ecosystem. The recent two-day special operation on July 6 and 7 yielded significant results, although the perpetrators managed to escape. The STPF is actively searching for them.
Seizure of Two Boats and Extensive Fishing Gear
During the operation on July 6, the STPF team seized a boat, approximately 120 fishing nets, two tubes, and a bicycle in the Magar Nala and Jamun Nala areas of Totladoh Dam. On July 7, an additional boat, a pipe, and around 45 fishing nets were confiscated in another raid in the Magar Nala area. Dr. Prabhnath Shukla, Deputy Director of Pench Tiger Reserve, Nagpur, commented on the operation, stating that the seizures demonstrate their relentless dedication to protecting the ecosystem surrounding Totladoh Dam within the Pench Tiger Reserve.
