Nagpur: New Kamptee Police have booked a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping a young woman between October 2018 and March 2022, on the false promise of marriage. The 22-year-old victim lodged a complaint in this connection, after the accused Atul Prabhakar Khurpadi reportedly married another woman recently.
According to police sources, the victim girl and Khurpadi both are residents of Kamptee. The duo had met on social media where their friendship bloomed into a relationship. During the same, the accused Khurpadi expressed his sexual desires towards the victim. As he had promised to tie the nuptial knot with her, the girl gave her consent. Following which, the accused frequently sexually assaulted her.

However, recently, the accused Khurpadi got married to another girl. Enraged over which, the victim girl approached New Kamptee Police Station and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, New Kamptee Police have booked the accused Atul Khurpadi under Sections 366 (2), (N) of the IPC and placed him under arrest.
